The Mission of Franklin Covenant Church
Franklin Covenant Church exists to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ and is fully grounded in scripture with relevant, practical application for Christian living in our modern-day world. This foundation strengthens us spiritually and allows us to grow in our faith, in our love, in our relationships, and in our ministries
Franklin Covenant Church believes in the following core tenets of the Christian faith:
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. This God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. (1 John 5:6-12, Matt. 1:18-25, John 3:13)
We believe Jesus Christ is God's only Son, fully God and fully human. Born of the Virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, and rose again from the dead. Salvation is a free gift from God, received by faith in Jesus Christ. (Gal. 3:13, Eph. 1:7)
We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within believers, guiding them towards truth, empowering them for Christ-like living, and comforting them in times of need. (John 16:7-15, Acts 1:3, John 15:26)
We believe Adam, created by God, in His image and likeness, broke fellowship with God through disobedience (sin), thereby receiving a sin nature, which separates us from Him. As a result, this sin nature has been passed down to all men everywhere. (Gen. 1:26, Gen. 3:1-7, Rom. 5:12-21)
We believe God's love is unconditional, and through repentance by His grace, we are offered forgiveness and a new life in Christ. (2Cor. 7:9-10, John 3:3)
We believe the Bible is God's inspired Word, without error in its original writings, and our authoritative guide for faith and conduct. (2 Tim. 3:16)
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, a fellowship of believers committed to worship, learning, service, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. ( Acts 2:42-47, Eph. 3:8-12)
We believe in the Second Coming of Christ, the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ to reign as King. (Matt. 26:64, James 5:8)
We believe there will be a resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the saved to eternal life with God, and the lost to everlasting separation from the life of God. (John 5: 25-30, Acts 24:15)
We believe we are called to living a Christ-centered Life: Sanctification is the process of being set apart to God. Having been freed from sin through His grace and power, we submit to Him and dedicate ourselves to purity. We believe that as followers of Christ, we are called to live a life that reflects His love and character, and to share His message of hope with the world.
(Rom. 5:1-5, 6:11-23, 1 Cor. 6:11, 2 Cor. 7:1, 10:5)
CHURCH LIFE AND PRACTICE
Water Baptism
for believers expresses our participation with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. (Rom. 6:4-9, Col. 2:12)
Holy Spirit Baptism is administered by Jesus, empowering the believer to be His witnesses.
(Matt. 3:11, Mark 1:8, 1 Cor. 12:1-14, Acts 1:4-8)
We affirm the validity and value of Spiritual Gifts as given by the Holy Spirit for the building up of the Body of Christ and equipping us to be effective witnesses to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 12 & 13, Rom. 12:1-13)
We share in The Lord’s Supper remembering His saving work and signifying His death until He returns. Jesus said, “This is my body given… this cup is the New Covenant in my blood”. (1 Cor. 11:23-25, Luke 17:20-22, Heb. 9:22)
Healing of the human body is made available to us by the power of God, through the prayer of faith, the laying on of hands and anointing with oil (or other methods of Father’s choosing). (John 5:14-16, James 5:14-15)
Biblical, Christian marriage was designed by God; one man, one woman, living together as one in covenant. We believe sexual relations are designed by God to be experienced within a covenantal commitment (marriage) between one man and one woman. (Gen. 2:18-24, Mark 10:6-9, Eph. 5:21-33)
We believe that as God loves us unconditionally, so we are also called to extend God's love to all people unconditionally, regardless of race, religion, beliefs, or where they currently are in their life. (Matthew 22:36-39)
We believe all human life is sacred from conception until one’s last breath. (Gen. 1:26-28, Psalm 139:13-18)
